well i guess you would have got the aim its almost 8 months since i wrote somethign here.....n not that my off track brain ahsnt(my english keyboard and french key board changes causes such typos whoch some of my friends have developed a skill to read) thought anything to write jus felt too lazy to pull myself to type out sumthng....i have moved again...this time outside asia to europe i seem to have an eternal urge to shift work base...and iam writing this not to vent but with teh hapiness that in few days from now iam back to singapore asia my lovely asia...Some say iam crazy to say asia is better than europe may be iam. i never seem to agree with general opinion of the mass...when i first landed in france ,in a small state called brittany....it was january winter the wind was biting me though i ahd a sweater and a coat i was shivering..i saw my prof waiting for me and was happy to get into her warm car. the scenary was beautiful. meadows greenery and trees...i liked the look of it it looked like a some scene from a book you only got to read till then...after my 18 hours of no sleep on flight i still wasnt sleepy and was ready to visit my lab and for lunch as my stomach was growling..I was to have a sandwich and coffee. The coffee was a shock as it was a tiny cup no cream jus decoction and one packet of sugar......well thats ok but it wasnt hot as i expected it to be....then came the second rude shock that a sandwich was half ur height well for those of you who know its a baguette it was half my height (im not ashamed to say this as im not short the baguette wassss HUGGGEEEE) and cold tooo. Then i came to room and had to wait for my prof to take me to buy the necessities of survival food n veggies. As i waited i realised
there was pin drop silence as though it was a classroom tat was taken care fo by the sinister looking teacher who was ready to hand out punishments....It was maddening i was the only voice i could hear.... so I decided i need a SIM card as its friday and i heard with utmost disbelief tat weekends are worse and no shops on sundays..... I did soem shoppin got a sim card my contatc with the other part of the world established only through a mobile no internet (that was like a necessity these days)...anyway not bad. Mon dieu, i realized i cant survive without french any shop guy had no knowledge of the existence of the language called ENGLISH. they would stare n shrug n say cest quai????meaning whats that.stumped learn french and by the time i start speaking its time to leave....:) Anyway i had some basic knowledge as to identifying food tats vegetarian very important for me :D ,,,asking for the bill and to say no french....for heavens sake find a english speaking guy....I was happy to find a english counter at the railway station for tickets but to my surprise he did speak english but my translation fo french numbers toe nglish wasnt very gr8 either...he siad i speak english and said "pay cinquante euro" i could make out pay ans euros wats the cinquante i learnt it guess 50 i could ahve ratehr gone to a french counter for this. At the paris airport the english i heard was " the vol terminal tout droit" which i didnt understand then when i landed but know now it meant the flight terminal straight. Some people wouls have said you should have taken a french course well iam not stupid completely atleast....i did and it didnt help as i was a beginner and they were fast n too many short forms.
the place has lot of beautiful sites to see and nice places i enjoyed them of course but as i read in a book i believe in this "sometimes when you are amidst a crowd of people you feel more lonelier than when you are alone" thats how it feels here its somewhere i cant relate to or blend as a tourist i appreciate the beauty but to stay long implies iam tired and bored sooner. I liked the noise of people and other beings in asia someone to chat to anytime. I can while time just by sitting outside and wtaching people around... it may be populated but it makes me feel home. the sun the warmth, the chatter of animals (not in singapore but in india u get to see them alll free)...COlors in decor house or apparel iam fed up watching brown n black n white everywhere...i guess i was the only one wearing a mild red winter coat and a pink one.:P
anyway home sweet home i shall be there soon :)
